Sarcelle
Opinaca Reservoir, Québec
Following the discovery of the Eleonore Gold Deposit by Virginia Mines Inc., in the western part of the Opinaca Reservoir, in the James Bay region of Quebec, the Company acquired 56 mining claims (second quarter of 2006) in addition to the four blocks it already owns. C2C owns a 100% interest in this 77-claim property, which was acquired by map designation.
Strong-to-moderate magnetism, arsenic soil anomalies and the presence of NW-SE and NE-SW structures in a favourable geological context were all positive exploration criteria supporting this strategic acquisition to the west of the Eleonore discovery area.
- The Sarcelle properties are contiguous to the western limits of the properties of Virginia Gold Mines, Everton Resources Inc., Eastmain Resources Inc. and Azimut Exploration Inc.
- The Eastmain Dam property is contiguous to the western limits of the Clear Water Lake Gold Deposit (310,000 oz Au) of Eastmain Resources Inc.
The Casey Lake and Lloyd Lake properties are contiguous to the Azimut / Placer Dome property where numerous significant gold traces were recently discovered. The Eastmain River Volcanic Belt is located approximately 20 km south of the Eleonore discovery, a new gold deposit of millions of ounces of gold.
